Cup Full and Empty

On the occasion of this week’s story-telling

Simultaneously…

Half the cup is full of a liquid.
The other half is full of air.
Can you choose?
Can you compare?

To me, it probably is never empty. But that doesn’t make me an optimist.

I don’t like labeling myself, not even “positively”.

Because labels are full of possessiveness. They want to “have” you. From the moment you put one to yourself, you start proving — consciously or unconsciously — you are that. Or, that you are not the opposite. Everyone focuses on each of these two ways of wording, according to what fits “best” to their subconscious’s black box.

But this is not freedom. This is not autonomy. Autonomy isn’t exactly about being independent of others. It’s about being independent of your persona’s attachments. This way, you don’t project anything on the others, and you see them within the field of reality. You detect their real Self under their surface. You can protect your earthly self from their personalities if needed, but you see the similarity between their cores and yours. You have an opinion about them, but you know in which context to place it. Because — in parallel — , clear reality also stands here.

And, real Selves are not “this” or “that”. They just are.

Being a pessimist or an optimist isn’t the point. Things come as they come. Our behavior doesn’t affect them. A pessimistic or an optimistic reaction doesn’t change what is going to happen …outside. We don’t have control over the events of the external field. But, we do have control over the consequences of these to our inner field. Every external manifestation, every event or condition, every “bad” or “good” thing is here to make us elevate while trying to manage it.

That’s the point; to lift the lower case “s”, up to the capital “S”. Not to destroy or hate ourselves, but to merge them into their upper counterparts Selves.

Sometimes I just see a cup that “divides” the air, like it’s interfering or interrupting a contact between air and air.
A material that takes its space in the space.
