Passing the OSCP

How to study and pass the Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP).

This exam is hard. Most people fail the exam. I failed it too. Twice. I think it is a rite-of-passage. I studied, did hack-the-box, did the labs, took good notes, and thought I was all ready. Nope. I got started and nerves kicked in. I didn’t recognize any of the services and exploits.

This exam is good for you. It will teach you the skills you need to be a real penetration tester. It is so well respected, that you can get a decent paying job after you’ve passed (well it worked for me).

I’m going to take a break to remind you to TAKE GOOD BREAKS during your exam. This is so important. I don’t mean a snack break. If you’ve been hammering for hours and you are stuck.. go for a walk.. do something totally different. When you come back, you will have a fresh view of your problem. I was stuck on a PrivEsc, and went to bed for the night.. I solved the problem ON MY WAY TO BED. The next morning I got up and I knew the answer. It was just because I let go of the problem, and that gave me a new perspective.

Wipe the tears from your eyes and get back in there. This is a marathon, not a sprint. You can do this!! Keep studying and building your methodology!
