Should artificial intelligence be among us?

What would it be like if reality became similar to the game “Detroit: Become Human”? Just imagine the possibility of having an artificial intelligence, walking, talking, having human feature and emotions, living.

Technology has been around for as long as we can remember. It has been with us during the Stone Age. Now, that may seem preposterous, but humans have been inventing and engineering new creations in these eras, for instance we have advanced our ways of hunting, from stones, to spears, to axes, to bows and arrows, and so on. But did we stop there? No! Because of these inventions we have also develop use of machinery, such as factories, guns, planes, phones, computers, and cars. We didn’t even stop making upgrades on the same product. We kept making new versions of the same product and for what- to help make our lives easier. If we can change from the way we hunted with rocked spears all the way to using cars to go to stores and buy our own produce, then why not have artificial intelligence make our lives easier. Japans is already one step ahead of the rest of the world.

Artificial intelligence are solely for humans safety. We’re not some immortal force, we’re very fragile.“Robots can work anywhere in any environmental condition whether it is space, underwater, in extreme heat or wind etc. Robots can be used everywhere where human safety is a huge concern.” (Barden) Artificial intelligence will take jobs that are most dangerous to humans.

It’s understandable to why people are so afraid of artificial intelligence. With all the sci fi horror movies and games about robots become self absorbent and plan to get rid of human life forms, or just economically afraid that they might lose their job. It is possible for artificial intelligence to become self aware, as shown in “A Robot Has Just Passed a Classic Self-Awareness Test For The First Time” by Fiona Macdonald, in where three robots were tested to see what kind of “pill” they had. In reality they never received a pill. The far one on the right suddenly stand up and said “I don’t know.”(Macdonald) Then quickly changed its mind and started apologizing, “Sorry, I know now.” (Macdonald)And answered the question, “I was able to prove I was not giving a dumbing pill.”(Macdonald ) In the end the robot did recognize that it hasn’t received any pill. But, in a way the robot really isn’t being self aware. It was programmed to be conscious in a specific predicament. As for the people who are terrified of being given the pink slip and being replaced by robots, shouldn’t really have any fear because we could figure a schedule in what time the robots work and when the humans can work, for instance the machine can work in the night time at 12 am all the way to 6 am. That way it could work for those who want to work in the morning, afternoon or night. These are the reasons why we should have robots among our community.

There are so many reasons into having artificial intelligence. It will be sort of oxymoronic to not to go beyond our knowledge of technology. The soul purpose of having technology was to make our lives simpler, and it will be even more simpler if we have robots to be there to help us.
