One and Done

And other tricks to handle overwhelm

It’s official — I’ve reached a state of complete and total overwhelm.

Just a few hours ago, I accepted a project on Upwork from a guy I’d reached out to over a month ago.

In the back of my mind, I kept thinking, “I should just say no,” but for some reason, I said yes. It looked like a fun project, with the potential for more.

Is it a good thing? A bad thing? I don’t know. All I know is that, at the moment, every spare minute of my day that isn’t spent sleeping, exercising, eating…

…or driving my kids around to school and other appointments…

…is being spent at the computer, working.

Which I’m honestly not a fan of.

I love my work, but at a certain point in the day, I’d rather be on the couch, reading. Or hanging out with my kids, doing nothing for a while. But I think I’m okay with this short-term.

The worst that could happen is that all of these clients continue to ask for more, and more, and more.

And I keep saying yes.

At some point, I’ll need to say, “no, I can’t.”

At some point, I’ll have to pick my one or two “keepers,” and let the others go.

In the meantime, I’ve been using a few tricks to get the work done.
